The winner was team "Sussles", consisting of players AlexD and Firework. The qualifiers were on 19 February 2022 and the tournament itself was on 26 February 2022.
The latest official tournament was tournament XXII. The official tournaments are viewable live or as replay from various content creators, including but not limited to Project Incursus, Boberet0 and salzwerk (German) The official tournaments are varying team sizes, and have prizes for the top three players as well as a name mention in the winners announcement. Community driven tournaments have been organized, of which many had the developers help out and grant an in-game badge reward to the winner. On May 27 2017, Earthwork Games started hosting their own official Forts tournaments. Teams are able to choose one of many commanders, each with their own active and passive abilities, in order to augment their playstyle. The point of the game is to destroy the opponent's core, which can be done through direct damage, like hitting it with a laser, indirect damage, like setting fire to it, or through making it fall to the ground by destroying the supporting fort around it. There are weapons like missiles, lasers, cannons, and mortars to attack, with things like reinforced walls, sand bags, and machine guns to shoot down projectiles and defend yourself. Collect resources, develop your tech-tree, unlock advanced weapons to target your opponent’s weak points, and feel the satisfaction as their fort comes crashing down.The core gameplay of Forts is similar to many real-time strategy games: build up resources, acquire new technologies, and build something to attack the opponent while defending yourself from their attacks. Build an armoured fort in real-time and arm it to the teeth. All this, and the previously released Steam Workshop integration, comes free to Forts owners and increases the fort building possibilities of the game.
Also included are Truce mods, which provide a period of varying lengths in which players can build up their forts in peace, before they start blasting each other into oblivion.

Tons of Guns comes complete with new AI forts bristling with new weapons for players to take on in Skirmish or Multiplayer, and a new Mod Selection feature, which allows several new game types, such as Fast Build, Rapid Fire and Zero Gravity. The Factory now produces two beam weapons, the classic Plasma Laser and the new Firebeam, great for penetrating fortifications to ignite them from within. The classic Cannon is now found in the new Munitions Plant, where it is joined by it’s little brother, the burst-firing 20mm Cannon. The Armoury unlocks Flak guns to clear the skies of enemy projectiles, and EMP rockets to power down enemy tech, both of which can be upgraded to the Shotgun and twin Rocket launcher, respectively.

The arms race intensifies with this new update that adds two new tech buildings which allow commanders access to six formidable new weapons, and a host of new and varied strategies. The game has been reviewed by CG Magazine and Kotaku, the former of which described Forts’s gameplay as being similar to the Worms series. In Forts, the player builds a base, defends it, and acquires weapons through tech trees in an attempt to destroy the opponent’s reactor. Forts had sold 120,000 copies as of October 6, 2017. Forts started development in March, 2003, as a game originally based on early bridge building games. Forts is a 2D real-time strategy video game developed and published by Australian studio EarthWork Games.
